Lee FACTORY CRIMP DIE .224 Valkyrie
[91487]

27.50 Euro
Reviews

Description

Factory ammunition is often more accurate and better able to withstand rough handling because the bullet is firmly crimped in place.
A firm crimp improves accuracy because pressure must build to a higher level before the bullet begins to move.
This higher start pressure insures a more uniform pressure curve and less velocity variation.
Even powder selection is less critical.

The LEE Factory Crimp Die crimps the bullet in place more firmly than any other tool.
It is impossible to buckle the case as with a regular Roll Crimp Die.
Trim Length is not critical so this extra operation takes less time than it would if cases were trimmed and chamfered.
LEE tests demonstrate that even bullets which have no cannelure will shoot more accurately if crimped in place with the Lee Factory Crimp Die.

A firm crimp is essential for dependable and accurate ammunition.
It eliminates the problems of poor ignition of slow burning reloading powders.

Instructions

The Lee Factory Crimp Die does not seat the bullet. The bullet should be seated with your regular bullet seating die.
Be sure that your bullet seating die is adjusted out far enough so the crimp shoulder is free of the case mouth. Seat to the desired depth.
If the bullet has a crimp groove it is usually best to seat the bullet so most of the groove is inside the case mouth.

● Screw the Lee Factory Crimp Die in to touch the shell holder plus 1/2 turn more. Adjust in for a heavier crimp.
It is usually best to start with too little crimp as you can readjust and crimp again to suit your needs.
When the four plits in the collet are closed maximum crimp has been achieved. Do not try for more as the die will be damaged and the crimp excessive.
If you are using a Lee Press be certain to give the lever a firm push at the end of the stroke to close the collet and apply crimp. ( 25 lbs. minimum )

● Bullets do not need a crimp groove as the Lee Factory Crimp Die will form one while crimping.
However it requires a harder push on the press lever to form the crimp.

● Finger tighten the lock ring.
This locks to both the die and press and it will never move.

● When removing the die always loosen by the lock ring.
This insures the lock ring will maintain its setting for future use.

● Trim length is not critical.
However be certain that your cases are no longer than specification as a case excessively long will pinch the bullet in the end of your gun's chamber and cause dangerous pressures.
Cases trimmed excessively short cannot be crimped.
