Description

The Lyman Universal Bore Guide is an essential tool for the proper cleaning of bolt action rifles as it will keep the cleaning rod perfectly centered and supported within the barrel and through the chamber.
This protects both the chamber and the bore from abrasion by the cleaning rod during regular cleaning.
Cleaning a rifle without using a bore guide can cause accuracy destroying wear in the chamber, throat and rifling caused by an off-center or bowed rod.

The interchangeable tips guide and support various size cleaning rods, keeping them perfectly centered in the bore.
Precision machined from durable, anodized aluminum, the set comes with interchangeable tips that cover bore sizes from .17 up to .416 and the thread-on nozzles prevent the guide's sticking in the chamber.
This set will fit most bolt actions and even includes a special adapter sleeve for the AR-15.

The guide's specially machined port makes applying solvent to the inserted cleaning patch easier and neater than trying to push a wet patch into the open end of the guide.

The Universal Bore Guide Set works with most cleaning rods like Lyman's Universal Cleaning Rod System and Jag and Brush Set.

Instructions

Warning: Before cleaning be sure that the firearm is unloaded.

1 Remove the bolt from the rifle.
2 Select the tapered tip that best fits the rifle's caliber and the diameter cleaning rod being used.
3 Thread the tip onto the end of the bore guide.
4 Slide the bore guide into the receiver until the tapered tip fully seats into the chamber.
5 Loosen the handle on the sliding receiver collar and slide it forward on the bore guide until the handle rests against the rear surface of the bolt handle slot. Tighten the handle against the bore guide.
Special instructions for AR-15 rifles: slide the larger diameter AR receiver collar onto the bore guide. Push it forward until the threaded hole for the handle is visible through the ejection port, and thread the handle into the receiver coller. Position the handle against the back end of the ejection port and tighten the handle against the bore guide
6 Insert the cleaning rod with a patch or brush into the end of the guide and stop when you reach the solvent port. add solvent and then push the rod into the barrel. Follow recommended cleaning procedures for the solvent being used.
